Growth Mindset

"Doubts kill more dreams than failures ever will" Heading into finals week and approaching the end of the semester is often a time where obstacles tend to get in the way and distract from studying time.  Its easy to feel discouraged if one is not in the place they wanted to be or thought they would be in.  Staying focused on the end goal and not giving up is imperative to success.

Taking Stock

Preparing for my last few finals and allowing study time in between a crazy work schedule.  Wasn't able to dedicate a lot of time to school work this week.

Weekly Review

Preparing for finals and last assignments in all classes. It has been a long semester and still a lot going on at work.  Balancing out the two for the final week to ensure study time as needed.

Week 15 Analysis

How did the reading go for you this week? What struck you the most in this week's reading? Were there ideas you struggled with?     I really liked this quote from one of the readings  “As a writer, you’d be foolish if you weren’t pushing yourself to get to the heart of things,” she says. “Our surface feelings – the ones where you rant and rave at people, and glorify and denigrate yourself – aren’t the most interesting. Where did you do your best writing this week — in this class? In another class?  Have you discovered some good strategies for helping yourself focus on writing for this class?      My favorite writing this week was for one of my History classes where we had to write an essay about a book we just finished "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl."     Did you read something excellent written by someone else in the class? What made it stand out to you?       I read several posts for this class and my other classes and commented on a few of them. How ar

Growth Mindset, Week 14

"Our greatest fear should not be failure, but of succeeding at something that doesn't really matter." D.L. Moody "Many of life's failures are people who did no realize how close they were to success when they gave up." Thomas A. Edison As we reach the home stretch of this semester, it's important to remember why we started, and what we're working toward in the long run.

Taking Stock, Week 14

Getting closer to the end of the semester, I am not where I want to be in a couple of my classes unfortunately.  After being sick for a week, and my daughter being sick as well the following week, I fell behind in a lot of work we were doing and wasn't able to catch back up.  I will be taking a smaller work load next semester so that I can focus on the few classes I will still have as I continue to work full time as well.  Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day to complete everything that needs to be done.

Weekly review, Week 14

How did the reading go for you this week? What struck you the most in this week's reading? Were there ideas you struggled with?     Readings this week were interesting as I continued reading The Big Sleep. Where did you do your best writing this week — in this class? In another class?  Have you discovered some good strategies for helping yourself focus on writing for this class?      My favorite writing this week was for my Theatre class as we wrote about our favorite actor and did some research on them.  I also had to take an exam in one of my History classes that entailed 5 short answers about a book we read for that.  I was happy with how I did on that as well.     Did you read something excellent written by someone else in the class? What made it stand out to you?       I read some interesting interpretations on the book we read in History as we have weekly discussions about our readings. How are things going in your other classes? Are there any connections you are no
